need a little help

i want to download police frequencies from my computer to my scanner. I bought the arc 500 software and also a premium subscription to the radioreference site like said to i am able to download and import the frequencies to the arc500 software i hit the upload button and plug the cord into the scanner and nothing happens i tried the v-scanner editor but none of the files i choose will allow me to upload im not sure how to save the files they want me to can anyone help me i would greatly appreciate it.

There are several possibilities here; first, which scanner do you have? ARC500 is only compatible with the PRO-106, 197, GRE PSR-500 or 600 scanners. Secondly, did you load and install drivers for the USB cable you should be using (most PCs these days don't have serial ports)....more information needed...best regards..Mike

i have the pro 106 scanner. everything seems to be going okay until i actually go to upload. There is no information in any of my books on if i have to have my scanner in a certain setting.
