My belt clip broke so I need a new one. Preferably on Amazon if possible.

Mine broke last month randomly (not from being dropped or user abuse - those are examples of what would not be covered by a manufacturer defect). I contacted Uniden customer service and they sent me a replacement for free. The part was still under warranty. Check the terms of the warranty, but I believe that particular part had either a 90-day or a 180-day warranty. They will require you to submit a copy of the original receipt electronically; my customer service representative (Ryan) was great to work with and allowed me to email him a PDF scan of the receipt directly.

I cannot use mine because it was never tight and the radio spins circles if I try to put it on my belt. And the one on my 436 broke and did the same thing, and the screw that holds the circular part tight on that scanner loosens up within a few minutes and is completely useless, so I don't have any real way to carry either scanner other than by hand. I really wish that the belt clip wasn't dependent on the back of the radio casing because there is no way to replace many parts without replacing the back of the radio it seems. Every scanner I have had since the 396, when this type of clip was introduced, has had a problem and has worn out or had issues and buying a replacement clip has not solved the problems. The mount on the back of the scanner wears out and you just cannot get a clip to stay tight once that happens. I love the radios but I do not like the belt clip configuration. I don't even carry the belt clip since I can't use it on my SDS100 or 436HP.

This is interesting because the belt clip on the 396 is a different belt clip than on the 436. But this Uniden site says it works on both of the radios. The belt clips for the 436 is a little bit longer from what I remember. I know that the 396 belt clip will of course fit on it but it's not as tight. I tried using a brand new 396 belt clip on my 436 but it would not work or keep the radio from still wanting to spin. I didn't even realize they were different until a friend told me and then I looked closer at them and saw the differences.

This is why I would opt to contact Uniden Customer Service directly to proceed with obtaining a replacement. The item at the link does not specify that it's for the SDS 100. They may indeed be the same part, but if you can get it replaced for free and it's still under warranty, why not? Even if you do have to pay for a replacement, better to be sure to order the proper part.

FWIW, my belt clip has "UT-865A" embedded on the top side of the back piece of the clip.

The problem with mine is I sat down and the chair pushed the scanner upward and broke the piece that keeps it held down in the clip (that clicking sound it makes when it locks into the holster.)

The screw that holds the button on pulled out while clipping to my belt? Seriously?

Mine broke too, after only a few weeks of use - the latching part snapped off. My SDS100 almost met its demise that day - I did the hot-potato-dance, and somehow managed to keep it from smashing itself on the concrete floor in the garage. I'm now using the clip that came with my BCD396T, which has lasted close to 15 years without this happening. Seems like the plastic used for the SDS100 is more shiny/hard/brittle. Maybe if enough people complain about this, Uniden will come up with a better version....

Can you post a pic of what the Bcd396T clip looks like?

I'm trying, but I can't get the site to accept an image attachment. I've resized within the dimensions and file size constraints, but it still says it's not a valid image. Grrrr.

Just an FYI, the belt clip for the SDS100 is exactly the same as the one for the BCD436HP. The part numbers from the clips (inside, on one of the pieces) is: UT-607Z, with C2690G1 underneath.

There must be two different parts in use then. Mine says UT-865A, with 59451G2-H underneath.
