Hi all, taking knowledge on what I should buy next. I would mainly monitor since I travel the following areas,
Southern NM such as Las Cruces NM, Hobbs NM, Carlsbad NM, Roswell NM. I do believe Las Cruces is EDACS.
Texas from Jeff Davis County to way west in El Paso County Texas. Lists a Motorola type II system in the RR database.

most in this grid I travel are VHF analog or mainly conventional currently. So thats no issue as long as scanner did NAC, p25 clear scanning. Though there are trunked systems I would like to get this right and get what I can thats really good with range I wanna spend.

I would prefer the scanner to monitor those systems in Cruces and El Paso and be capable of modern or upgrades in event say they go from a type II to a APCO p25 trunk setup that is clear and not encrypted. Scanner must be digital/analog and do CTCSS, DCS (dpl), NAC decode.

I would prefer one that does LTR & ESK support just to have. From what everyone has or those with knowledge, what scanner should I get. I plan to cough up at least between 400 to 600 bucks. So Want to buy right for the general areas. I would also like it to monitor So Cal in San Diego, LA, and Arizona public safety. What does everyone recommend I buy and wont have any doubts or regrets later? Plan to buy from scannermaster.

Thanks.
Davie

Meaning I do travel sometimes to those areas and would like to be able to monitor trunked systems over there in So Cal.

My Uniden 396s have poor audio compared to my GRE PSR-500 on the San Diego RCS system.

Need a new scanner to, what should i get ?

I purchased a Home Patrol Scanner and have been happy with it so far and it is very easy to program you just put in your zip code and it loads everything in your area and you can update it here on radio reference. using the program that comes with the scanner.

The GRE PSR500 was one I have considered. I may wait some time but trying to get opinions. Plus with systems changing due to 2013 mandates its been making me want to hold off.

Thanks for the replies who replied. I will wait longer and be patient to see what the gre900 has to offer. If it is nothing of interest I may go to a gre500. Just want it to scan apco trunking digital the common used in upgrades from a type II, and as long as it does edacs standard and type /\/\ II. Does the scanners do type IIi? the gre 500?
