My county has gone to a Motorola Project 25 Digitally Encoded 700/800 mHZ Trunked Radio System. I dont think my old Radio Shack Pro-2052 will work anymore. What is a good scanner that will work with this system? I've been looking at the Uniden 996 but was hoping for something a little less expensive! Any decent units out there for less than 500 bucks?

This is pretty much your line-up. I don't think you will find them much under 500 beans for the current models. Some of the older models should start coming down a bit soon with the new Uniden coming out. Beware the Radio Shack ones will not come with any programming cable. The Unidens will require separate cable purchase to use USB but will come with a serial cable.

RS Pro-106 or Pro-197 sometimes are on sale for a hundred to two hundred under 500 bones, but yeah they don't come with cable's but who care's if you get the scanner for 300 bucks and have to buy a 30 dollar cable.
Yeah,I am looking for a base unit so I might just have to bite the bullet and get the Uniden.Tax money hopefully! This whole digital trunking thing is new to me so you guys might be getting some really noob like questions from me soon! Thanks for the replies.
