Need advice on Antennas

Hi to anyone who is reading this.
I am seeking information on what type of antenna I should get.
I want to locate it outside. The scanner I have is a BCD966xt.
I live in Mchenry County IL. And will be useing it to monitor the Starcom 21 Sys.
I also understand that the Fire Department and a few others are still using anolog systems.
So what I would like to get is a antenna that will work well on both.
Any and all advice will greatly app.

how far are you from those radio systems? whats your budget

I am about 15 to 20 miles located in the middle of two towns that I would like to monitor.
As my budget go's I am not concerned about the price if it will give me what I want.
We are what you call (DINK'S) AKA Duel Income No Kids

mr dink! haha thats awesome. well i have this one Outdoor VHF-Hi/UHF Scanner Antenna - RadioShack.com and it works great, i have about a 70 mile radius of listenable audio

Well wouldn’t you know it !! Out of stock. I can wait the weather just is not nice enough to take a chance on cracking any roof shingles.
Any suggestions on coax while I have your attention?

i used good old fashioned radioshack rg58, im not serious enough to spend a shload of money
