I'm going out this saturday to get my technician class license. I have been buying some equipment to get ready, I just bought an icom ic v8000 2 meter transciever. I also have a kenwood tk-2170. my question is about a GOOD mobile antenna. the handheld is ok for picking up the local repeater from outside (not in the car) I want to mount the icom in the car but here's the catch. my wife has put up with alot from my little hobbies (I just raised a 25 ft discone in the yard) If i have to drill through my fairly new car to mount an antenna she'll kill me. so is there a GOOD mobile 2 meter antenna out there that is a magnetic mount?
