You probably should not be using any firmware from that page. They were meant for the BCD996P2 (U.S. version), which is not the same as your UBC996P2.

That page also contains a warning even with the proper radio, BCD996P2:
Please check your scanner's serial number before updating.

If your scanner's serial number starts with 378A, be sure to use ONLY this (or newer) version. The scanner will stop working using earlier versions.
If your scanner's serial number starts with 378Z, you can update to this (or newer) versions (again for the BCD, not the UBC models)

Why do you need the older version? Normally when people in the past on these forums ask, the thinking is something was broken on the newer firmware and they think thats the issue when the issue is programming or simulcast.
996P2 firmware has been out for a couple years - also hasn't been updated since, but people aren't reporting issues.

Uniden outside of at least the T models and before never released a stand alone downloadable firmware for the P2. So what your asking is not doable outside of Uniden themselves that have it.

If you look through the rest of the thread, you will see that the issue the user had was caused by a programming error.

Just install the latest firmware, once programmed correctly it will perform better, sound better too.
Since your a premium subscriber, download into software. I use freescan and put in your local area - wherever that is.

Download freescan.

I can pretty much guarantee you whoever said about the firmware... it was there programming that was the issue. I have seen MANY dozens of people who program themselves and kinda give up and theirs are poor to dare I say embarrassing.
People are used to frequencies on their old scanner and dont understand trunking nor talkgroups. Frequencies is all they put in and/or they put in close call frequencies, many random frequencies from all over the frequency band.

OK Ron
Thank you for all the information, I had a 996T YEARS ago sensitivity was low bought it brand new. Traded it for a Kenwood TM741A dual
band HAM mobile. OK I have both Freescan AND Butel ARCXT so I will have no problems programming this mobile for my area

Yes I have that BUT it only gives the Latest update to 1.10.02 In which i read out here it cuts P25 reception it has a bug
There may be a misunderstanding. There was a hardware change in later BCD996P2's which resulted in not being able to decode P25 frequencies above 171.2 MHz in the VHF high band. A firmware update was issued to fix the problem.

Here are the release notes for firmware version 1.10.02:

Version 1.10.02 Released 7/13/22

Release Notes:

1. Fixed an issue where the new radio hardware could not decode digital communications in the frequency range of 171.2250 – 173.9875MHz.

So in other words, it would have been the update prior to 1.10.02 that created the problem as 1.10.02 is the one that fixed it.

Correct, and that is one reason only the latest firmware is available. Too many people were using incompatible (or flawed) firmware and losing the ability to use their scanners. There are some reports of that happening here on RR.

I for one would love a per-channel tone/treble setting as I think the digital audio is muffled also
But digital uses the full spectrum from 20-20k whereas analog was about (depending on the scanner or system radios) 300-15k
so digital will go much lower than analog for voice.
I have done entire departments that changed from analog to digital and complained about the same issue
Lucky for them they bought APX radios and with the 100s of audio settings in the radios, you can get the radio to sound almost the same as their old analog system in the case of a FD you can get most of the muffled sound from air packs out.
If you listen to an FD with radios not optimized for interior operations and then one that is, it's a world of difference and much safer as you can understand the guy in the air pack.

Sorry for the rant but I wanted to address the bassy comment (Even though it was said with lots of sarcasm)
