Need anomaly explained...

Ok. On a whim I cranked up my Bearcat BC205XLT and started searching everything it would hear. On 927.687 I found what appears to be a baby monitor - loud, clear and continuous. On a second whim, I picked up my AR8200 and tuned to the same frequency - nothing. I searched between 927 & 928 - nothing. I got my PSR500 and did the same thing - nothing. I wondered if it was an image and started dividing by 2. Went all the way down to 30 MHz - nothing. Tried swapping antennas on each scanner - same result. Even after 30+ years of scanning I'm a little perplexed by this and wondered if someone might explain.

You don't divide by two to find an image. You look at 2 times your IF frequency above and below.

902 to 928MHz is a license free band where some baby monitors live, it could be real. The receiver could use 10.7, 21.4 or even 45MHz as an IF in the 900MHz band.
