I have not used a cb in about 20 years so when I started researching I was overwhelmed with choices. The reason for getting a scanner or cb is to listen in and the people trespassing on my property. I tried the midland 75-822 and returned it the next day, scan function worked intermittently and the 8 battery holded did not power the unit. The issue I have is the scanner are large and want to be able to keep the unit fairly hidden when out on the back property. I saw the PR-106 was on sale but the unit is large and I do not see that it is waterproof. Also the GRE PSR-800 is a much smaller but could be overkill. The other option is a yaesu vx-3r, 6 etc which is waterproof and small, but I do not have ham license. I’m most interested in size and the ability to scan shortwave. I’m actually leaning towards trying the yaesu but since I lack experience with all this new equipment I’m not sure they actually would do what is needed. Any suggestions would be helpful in fulfilling the need I have.

Thank you

The first thing we have to know is what frequencies you want to listen to. No one can give you an intelligent answer without knowing that.

Are you sure the people, that you say are trespassing on your property, are using radios?
