Okay, now that I have a new Pro-96, I need a good mobile mount. I'm really liking this one:

But I'm not sure if it can handle the weight of a 96. Does anyone have this, if so, how do you like it?

I'm also considering another one if the above does not pan out:

The only problems I have with the second one is that, with both myself and my wife in the 4Runner, we use both of the cup-holders. The other thing I don't like about it is that the neck does not flex so, if it gets in the way, I can't adjust it side to side if need be.

I do remember a REALLY NICE set up awhile back in a "show us you mobile rig" thread, but I have done a search for it and cannot find it now.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Guys

Either one of those will work just fine. I use one of the vent mounts and it works great.

Great idea, I ordered one :D

anyways...
I e-mailed him to ask him how far it would expand to.

His reply

We have 2 sizes
One goes to 2.5 inches and the larger one expands to 3.5 inches.....
Let us know

Thanks for your interest

Not sure if the one you linked to is the small or the larger one.

My Pro92, is a little over 3 inches wide.
I'm sure the other large RS Scanners are about the same width.
My 83, is in my car so I can't check how wide it is.

I already have a Vent Mount for my SkyFi, so that would end up looking like crap :D

I got it today, fits the scanner just fine...
a little bit of a squeeze, but it fits.

The mailman shows up after I go to work, and I just got home.

I installed it in the car (in the dark :D)
But I have not 'road tested' it yet.

Did you get the first one (one with the flexable neck) or the second one (cup holder mount)? If it is the one with the flexable neck, how is it holding up under the weight of the 92? That was my biggest concern.

got the first one

I actually have the 95, in my car, and the 92 inside the house. Which is why I measured it.
But I think they're all the same. (92, 95 and 96)

Anyways, it holds the scanner just fine. It did move to the side a bit under hard acceleration and cornering. :D
It should be ok in normal driving conditions

Depends on your idea of "normal driving conditions" "Hard acceleration" tends to be how I drive!!

Now that I have your recommendation, I think I will get the adjustable arm version...but I gotta wait till payday
