Need Freq. Help

In my area, Dent Co. MO. There is a lot of Military Jet traffic and I would like to try and listen in. Not sure if they would be National Guard from St. Louis or maybe from Fort Leonard Wood.
Search doesn't come up with anything and I have looked at different Internet sites to determine freq. for my area, but to me, it is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Any experts to help me thanks. I am using a RS PRO-92.

The PRO-92 will be of limited use. While it covers the 138-144 mhz band, which is where a good deal of ANG and NG traffic can be found, I don't know if you can change the mode to AM (many of the older handhelds can't do that). In addition, it doesn't cover the 225-400 mhz area. Fortunately there are numerous scanners (not very expensive) that can. Our wiki has links to articles on LOTS of these.

The antenna is next. A duckie isn't going to do much, unless they're close, and only then if you're johnny on the spot and can get to the radio fast. Most duckies that come with scanners aren't particularly sensitive in the VHF range (some can be rightly referred to as 'wet noodles'). A discone or scantenna, fed with the right coax, will bring in much more. DPD productions even has antennas devoted to this range.

The 2nd link requires a password from the webmaster. The scanner mailing lists has links to both the St Louis and Scan Missouri Yahoo groups, both of which look like they're fairly active. They may also have some milair-related information

You may want to buy a Pro-97, PSR300, or, one of the new Radio Shack PSR clones. They have milair in them. The PSR300 actually has a search range for milair.
