Need guidance in purchasing a scanner

Hey everyone I have just moved into Granville county (Butner to be exact) and have numerous prisons and hospital type facilities around my house. It seems a couple times a week I have the public safety dispatched to one of the facilities close to my home. I was looking to purchase a radio/scanner that would enable be to see what is going on that they have to respond to so quickly.

Database states your county sheriffs dept is analog conventional but if you have any intentions on monitoring
Federal Correctional Complex Butner you'll need an analog trunk tracking scanner. Do you have a preference of handheld or base? See Uniden's list of scanners here. Focus on Column 4 "Trunk Tracking"

Addendum: Butner Public Safety is on VIPER so to pick them up you'll need a P25 Phase-I digital trunk tracking scanner. See list here

Viper is changing over to p25 phase 2 by 2025 so I would look for a scanner that will do phase 2
