need help 796

hello all
my town just went digital
they are on vhf on rx freq 155.490 tx 156.150
apco 25
one frequency how do i program 796 to hear them
have read manual but dont know what base space freqs are
could someone please help

Sounds like it isn't trunked (or were you listing the control channel frequency). If it isn't trunked, just program the output frequency as a conventional channel.

The Database shows Conventional not trunked. Logan Co. W.V. Put 155.49 in a conventional and it should work.

796 trouble

hello
the city of parkersburg are now on the freqs i posted above
i dont believe they are trunked but are useing p-25 digital vhf freq
156-150 is input
155-490 output
talked to a guy that works at the radio shop that did em and he said
it was not trunked just digital not encyrpted
does anyone know how to get 796 to recieve digital
without setting base space offset??

Yes, but define "didn't work". Did you hear anything? Did the ENC icon come on when they are active?

I am hearing the digital signal and no enc icon is coming on
im new to digital scanners
and i am not sure if i'm if i am doing something wrong or what
i see the signal full scale and no audio when i set it to trunk but i have been told they are not trunking just sending out a digital signal
any help will be great .

If they are APCO25 the BC796 will decode it in convemtional mode, NO TRUNKING SETTINGS. If they are some other type of digital signal then it won't. Also what is the second line displaying? It should be a freq and some info.

I did a reset and punched in the freqs in conventional mode and it didnt decode
on the second line it has 155.490 fm
like you said it may not be something my scanner can decode

If I put in the freqs for a APCO25 trunked system as conv, when receiving, the NFM alternates with P25 when receiving voice.

I went in and the ribbon cable wasnt in all the way.
Plugged her in and now it works
