• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Just a little more information might help in obtaining the answers you might be looking for. First of all are you looking to just monitor this system or actually be active on the system to respond to calls? My guess is your only looking to monitor the system.

You might want to do a search on how to monitor a P25 system to keep a radio from registering on the system. If your radio does try to register on the system and your not a registered user, the chance of your radio being disabled by the system administrator is real good.

There is some real good information on here to stay out of trouble. So some homework on your part might provide some guidelines on how to program the radio to not register on the P25 trunking system.

Thank you but do you have a suggestion on which radio would be better to pick up frequency?

im guessing my major question is i know pagers and scanners use 22.86MHz. im trying to figure out what a portable radio frequency range or a plain out model i would need.

i know you meant 33.86.
if you have a radio that gets 450 to 512 or 446 to 512, it will not get a 33 Mhz frequency.
are you looking for a professional radio or a scanner ?

If you’re looking to listen to the “Washington County” Trunked System, you’ll need a radio in the 450-512 Split with the capability of doing 9600baud Trunking. Yes, an XTS3000 would suffice IF it has the proper flashcode for trunking. Also, as stated above.. if you’re not authorized on the system I would suggest learning the “Non Affiliate Scan” method.

No an XTS3000 will not work for this as they cannot do OBT (Other Band Trunking). They will not do 9600 trunking on any band other than 800, and even then only with certain firmware.

I’m using an XTS3000 to monitor an OBT UHFSmartzone System right now, so you’re mistaken there. However, I also have an 800 MHZ 3000 sitting in front of me monitoring a phase 1 9600 System. I guess I have that firmware, lol (Q351/G361 flash, Firmware Version 06.72.00.00) But now, if my memory serves me correctly from a presentation, only an 800MHz 3000 can do 9600 baud Trunking with the proper flash/firmware. Sorry OP, I misinformed you. You’ll have to get an XTS2500 and up.

Not to be rude OP, but this is way out of your capabilities.

You best bet is to get a portable or mobile scanner, and join the forums for your area for info on programing.

I know you probably want a radio that looks legit and professional, but go with a scanner.
