need help between 2 scanners

hello all looking for input between these 2 scanners which is the best way to go. rafioshack -197 or gre -600 are there any size diffrence in the screens between the gre or radioshack or same size does one have bigger text info tgid#s lettering. which is better buy gre for 450.00 or radioshack-399.00, screen size does matter any help and thoughtson this . thanks for youre help

Both are pretty much identical radios with just the case design, speaker, button, and screen location different. Also note that although both radios use pretty much the same circuitry, they have code that prevents firmware updates for one to be used on the other so you must get updates for the GRE from GRE and updates for the RS from RS.

The GRE includes some items that are extra if you get the RS scanner (like the programming cable), so be sure that when you do any price comparisons you include these extras into the RS price.

Go with the GRE. Updates are available upon release and who knows what will happen with RS support if they are sold as is the latest news on RS.

I agree with Swipesy. Get the GRE 500 or 600 and you'll be set for a long time. Both can receive digital as well as analog, and has excellent audio quality.
