Hello All, I need help. I do not know if DART police in Dallas, TX changed frequencies. I have not heard them in a week on the channel list here on Radio Reference. Has DART moved units to it's new P25 yet??? Please help if you have some information.

Thanks, Danny

I believe they are now on an OpenSky system, which cannot be monitored with a scanner.

Open Sky system for DART???

I have not heard about DART police going to Open Sky system. I only seen information about a new P25 DART was starting to setup. That sucks if DART police did go to Open Sky. I like monitoring DART police on HOV enforcement on US 75 in Plano and Richardson area. I like to hear more about this Open Sky system if you or other people have more information. Please update database for people's download to there scanners. I use a GRE PSR-800 scanner to monitor local channels in Collin and Dallas Counities.

Thanks, Danny

This thread is from three years ago: http://forums.radioreference.com/texas-radio-discussion-forum/145126-dart-switch-opensky.html
The article I linked to is dead but I think it was one of these:
Dallas Area Rapid Transit Selects Tyco Electronics Wireless Systems to Design and Deploy OpenSky Communications System
http://www.pspc.harris.com/media/ECR-7654_CHANNELS_DART_tcm27-10443.pdf

A few months ago during a band opening I picked up the DART P25 system that is in listed the database.
I don't know if the OpenSky system really exists or if they decided to go to P25. I also don't know if the 900 MHz EDCAS system or 800 MHz conventional repeaters are still there. Maybe they have three or four systems

Somebody in the Dallas area will have to listen on all of DART's licensed frequencies and see what type of control channels are on the air.

Danny - program the P25 system in your PSR800. Program a wildcard talkgroup.

In case DART has converted their EDACS system to Opensky, please check the old EDACS frequencies. Is the EDACS control channel still active? Do some of the channels have an Opensky buzz?

Let us know what you find.

I believe they have the P25 system/site, just for interop.

DART has an application pending to modify their conventional 800 MHz channels.
ULS Application - PubSafty/SpecEmer/PubSaftyNtlPlan,806-817/851-862MHz,Conv - 0005139186 - DALLAS AREA RAPID TRANSIT AUTHORITY
They added some frequencies and emission designators.

This application lends credibility to their moving to OpenSky based on the emission designators added:
8K50F9W - Harris OpenSky (2 slot narrowband)
12K1F9W - Harris OpenSky (NPSPAC - 4 slot)
13K1F9W - Harris OpenSky (SMR - 4 slot)
20K0F9W

That's interesting. Their 935 MHz EDACS license already has the Opensky 2 slot emission. Someone should double check the EDACS channels.

Looks like they've consolidated all their operations onto a single Open Sky 4 slot system (buses, trains, police, etc.). The second link below says both 800 and 900 MHZ are being used "as a single system". I suspect the bulk of it is on 900 MHz at this time - I hear nothing on the 800 MHz channels.

The 900 MHz appears to be all digital at this time - all frequencies are blasting digital. Seem to be a pretty busy system.

DART is all OpenSky now, and has been for a while. They do have P25 capability but it's not in use yet.
