Link to the openmhz page is here.

There are at least half a dozen talkgroups that I’ve seen popping up in Howard County that are unidentified - don’t see anything on them anywhere.

The information for talkgroups on the site must be out of date. If anyone is able to identify these talkgroups, please let me know. I’ll update it on the back end.

I heard rumor from someone that they are getting ready to make a switch to something. This person said they sent out an email about a switch to P25, but since they are already on a P25 system I am not really sure, not having seen the email myself. I assume that there is about to be a major change and most of the data will be wrong shortly.

They are not on a P-25 system, they are on a Motorola Type II SmartZone 3600 baud digital system, P-25 Phase I is a 9600 baud system. They are going to P-25 soon, I do not have a cutover date as of this time.

One morning this past week, I heard dispatch tell everybody to go to the station to have their radios programmed.

The have the new core installed, and well as the site upgrade work, and SmartX. Likely going Phase 1 since they didn't actually add tower sites.

I went hunting around for new control channels today. It looks like Howard County already has the p25 trunk on the air on five frequencies.

Control channel is at 860.2375MHz.

Those are licensed as 8K10F1E (C4FM,) so looks like Phase 1. They added the emission type in April to their existing license for FM Wide, which they've held for many years.

I can barely decode the control channel when boosting the gains to max on 860.2375, probably because of today's weather (normally I would not receive Howard at all.) UT2 shows the cch and 3 acch. No voice channels, or Tg's. Got the BSI. I'll run it overnight and see what I get.

EDIT:

Seeing Continues on 10901, 10902, and 10961. No voice as of yet.

I wasn't able to give it much time, but so far it looks like:

10901 Fire Alpha 1
10902 Fire Alpha 2
10908 Fire Bravo 1

The Call Sign being transmitted via BSI is WPQX923, which has freqs in the NPSPAC range 851-854. The call sign has a pending modification that appears to be moving antennas around on existing towers, and adding 8K70D1W (LSM) as an emission type. It will be interesting to see their final channel plan.

Freqs seen so far:
858.2375
858.7375 (acch)
859.2375 (acch)
859.7375 (acch)
860.2375 (cch)

TGIDs seen so far (possibly to conform to FIRST pattern):
10901
10902
10908
10933
10961
10963
10967
11031
11071

I concur with N1NLR, to add...

10961 Police NDP1
10963 Police SDP1

I can't seem to get my sdr dongle to stop drifting on this P25 control channel, it won't decode with more than about 70%. I programmed it all into one of my scanners, so I will start comparing the radio traffic on the old system to the new and see what matches I can come up with. Good news is the 5000 plus radio IDs so far at least seem to be crossing over to the new system, at least however they are patched together, so it makes following the channel assignments easy. The radio IDs of units that are tuned to the new system are different however. Example is A-115 is 53367 on the old and 2472166 on the new.

I submitted what I have that makes sense. I did not include TGs because I can't verify them. I did notice this Peer / Neighbor site - not sure who it is - it may not even be accurate.Howard P25 peer.PNG
