I'm looking for some help putting a name with this type of battery connector, and where I can get some. My goal is to build a battery pack so I can use rechargable batteries and not the proprietary batteries that the manufacturer sells. Does anyone know what they are called and where I can get some? Battery is 7.5v if that helps.

Molex is a common brand for that type of connector. Go to one of the big electronic online dealers and start looking at the options. There's a lot of them. ID'ing that specific one will take some measuring and careful searching.

It might be easier to just replace everything with something simple.

I'm not skilled enough to change out the whole thing. Do you have any recommendations for dealers?

No recommendation on a dealer. This is one of those places where you need to get a cup of coffee and sit down in front of the internet machine and start searching all the options. There's a lot of variations of the connectors that you'll have to weed through to find the right one.

They look just like the AMP connectors Motorola has used for decades on their mobile speakers. Here's a page about the Motorola Spectra that includes a description and part numbers for the individual parts from Mouser Electronics. Verify (based upon the individual datasheets) if they'd work for your needs.

Good catch, that does look like those AMP on the speakers. I knew they looked familiar.

Since, I am late to the discussion and it has been said that they look like the Motorola External Speaker connectors, I'll touch on the comment make the future connector something simple. I would use the Anderson Powerpole connectors for a simple connection.

Although, I have an ample supply of the Motorola external speaker connector mates and the appropriate pins, I have replaced those connectors with the Andersons a few times. No, I didn't use the Reds and Blacks, I used the Gray and White connectors. Powerwerx has a good selection of the Anderson products.

The reason why I suggested the Andersons is because it is not easy to connect and disconnect the Motorola External Speaker style connectors. They just don't slide in and out very easy. Most of the times you'll need to use a couple pair of pliers to grip and pull.

With the Andersons you won't need to do that, they are very easy to connect and disconnect.
