I am not in the Boise area, but it sounds like you are receiving some transmissions so programming is not the issue.

However, much of Ada County has switched to the 700 MHz digital system and the BC246T can not receive digital or 700 MHz. Additionally most of the law enforcement in that area are encrypting their transmissions which no scanner can receive.

I believe the fire/EMS is still being broadcast on UHF/VHF, although I'm not totally sure of this. Try the frequencies listed on the Ada County page on this site, but some of them may no longer be active. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=547

See this page for the 700 MHz. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=4742

Justinall,

Here is list of the analong freq. still being used in Ada County

Police:
ACSO 1: 460.4500
ACSO 2: 460.2250
ACSO 3: 460.6250
Lukcy Peak/Swan Falls Repeater: 453.5250
Valley All Call: 465.0250
BPD A: 453.3000
BPD B: 453.3500
BPD C: 453.4250
BPD D: 453.5750
BPD E: 453.9000
BPD F: 453.1750
OSCAR: 453.2750
MPD TAC 5: 453.5500
ISP: 460.5500

Fire:
Ops 1: 154.2650
Ops 2: 153.9950
Ops 3: 154.1600
ALL BAND: 155.0850 (Never have heard used)
Fire Ch. 5: (Boise & North Ada County Dispatch) 155.6700
MED 1: 155.0550 (Use to be ACEMS but have heard fire on here lately for training and incidents)
MED 2: 155.1300 (Same as Med 1)
STATE COMM F1: 155.3400
STATE COMM F2: 155.2800
Lucky Peak/Swan Falls Repeater: 155.1300
Mutual Aid (Channel 10 or Black) 154.2800
Fire Ch. 14: 155.3850 (Dispatch for Meridian, Eagle, Kuna & Star FD)
Ops 15: 153.7400
Ops 16: 154.4300

I have the slightest idea about the 700mhz freq. All I know is that the FD is not going to be switching over for quite a while if at all because of a lot of problems with interference. Ada County EMS has swithched over to the 700mhz all ready.

I am not sure on the PD all I have heard in the last 1/2 hour is ACSO 1 and ISP

I hope this has been some help for you.

Ada County Sheriff and Boise Fire are still simulcast on VHF/UHF. Boise PD ended their simulcat on UHF about 3 weeks ago.

You might want to ask this question over on the Radio Shack radio forum. Lots of good info there about the 197, especially from those who have one. Sorry, I can't help you....I'm still stuck with analog! Good Luck!
