Recently I purchased a BC996T scanner and have no complaints about this scanner. In fact, I think it's the best I've ever owned. I purchased the ARC996PRO Software from scannermaster and have been able to program the scanner with no problems, except I've only been able to program the scanner manually thus far. I have programmed conventional and trunking systems but have not had much luck with the edacs system yet. Also, I have been trying to access the RadioReference.com website using the ARC996 Software but have not been able to. I have joined as a premium member and paid the required $30.00 annual fee. I have also checked my firewall and couldn't detect anything. I also have changed my password several times in the hopes that this might be the problem. I still am unable to access the radioference.com website using this softare. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong? I took Lindsay's advice (see below) but still am unable to program the scanner using the site.

Any suggestions? I previously brought this up on another thread but after reading the etiquete rules I realized I should have posted my own thread on this subject.

Thank you for listening (apologize for the lengthy explanation).

Bernie,

Make sure that you don’t have a firewall (like zone alarm or CA Security suite) that might be blocking the application from accessing the internet.

Also, check the URL that you are trying to access. To make sure you actually have access go to:

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/xml1.1

When prompted, enter your login ID and password and you should see a successful return.

Warm regards,

Lindsay

Subject: Site access for ARC966PRO software

Hello Webmaster,

I recently purchased a premium subscription to the website and have been attempting to program my BC996T Uniden scanner using the site's database. I purchased the ARC966PRO software from scannermaster but have not had success in accessing the database from the software although I don't have any problem using my username and password to access the website itself normally. I keep getting a message "RadioReference server refused connection, check username/password" and "RadioReference Disconnected, wait retrieving HTTP data."

The following notification appears when I attempt to log into the section for programning the software:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /apps/ on this server.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apache/2.2.3 (Red Hat) Server at www.radioreference.com Port 80 I have spent considerable time reading through the software material and also have been reading the forum posts relating to obtaining access and also have been checking my computer settings but still have not been able the access the website using the software. Is there any info you might be able to give me to help me obtain access? I realize I don't have the knowledge to solve this myself. THank you and I do appreciate the website as it contains a wealth of info. Sincerely, Bernie M. Burawski KJ4BWQ 788 Orienta Ave. Apt. D Altamonte Springs, FL 32701-6601 Tel: (407)371-8525

If you get the 'refused connection' error it means there is a working link with the radioref webservice but it refuses your username/password that we sent to the server. Double check your username/password and also make sure that you don't use the @ character in your username/password.
