Need help locating tool for volume/channel pot retaining nut.

Hello all. First post here.

Anyways, I work for a company that services Kenwood 2-way radios (among others.) As I'm sure you know, part of service includes disassembling the radios. The issue we're having is that the nuts that screw onto the volume and channel pots are a pain to get out. We've been using needle nose pliers, but I've come to find that they're messing up the threads.

I've heard these nuts called "Crab nuts" and "Spanner nuts". We've look pretty much everywhere, and no ones heard of a "Crab Nut", and the spanner nut tools are all wrong. Does anyone know of the correct tool to use to remove these nuts? If needed, I can probably attached a few pictures of the nuts.

Call the depot or either coast parts. I have used bent nose forceps in a pinch a few times and they worked just fine. Dont forget a drop of blue locktite.

I don't own a Kenwood, but maybe something like this.

Crab Nuts...

You can look thru the list of service tools @ 409shop(.com), i found a star tool that fits most radios. $ different sizes on one tool. It was around 8 bucks.
