BCD436HP/BCD536HP: Need help - must have set something incorrectly

Thanks in advance. I'm new at this and think I must have set something I did not mean to. While listening to a broadcast there are very brief, regular silences. Seems like it might be sampling something else for activity. When it does the silent pause the signal strength indicator disappears.

Check to see if you have priority turned on. Go to menu, priority scan, and make sure it's off (or not, if you want to use the feature)

In addition to Priority & Weather Priority, make sure Close Call is not turned on.

There's a lot to learn on this scanner. The only other scanner I've owned was a BC70XLT in the '80s. This is way more complex. 🤣

The Easier to Read manual may help you get used to the operation differences between this scanner versus older models.
