The easy way to program it is to get the WIN96 software. Also the programing cable from Radio Shack in Pt. Huron . Make sure you get the right cable .You can download the program for free and use it for 30 days before you have to pay for it .It makes it a lot easier to program when you can just up load what you want to the scanner .http://www.starrsoft.com/software/win96/

Don't frget the cable!!!

RT Systems is a great place to get a good all in one cable. It sure beats punching in all those numbers.

Welcome to the forum. As MilBil and Buckskinner suggested, Win96 is the way to go.

In the mean time, try this Pro-96 programming shortcut.

And don't forget to DL a ready-made (or nearly so) file on one of the Yahoo Groups (PRO-96, PRO-2096, Etc.)

Someone has likely done the hard work FOR YOU! 8)

Win96 is not at RS, they have ScanCat Lite Plus, which is not nearly as good as Win96 from http://www.starrsoft.com/. The cable at RS (20-289) is the same for either program.

Click on the link in my previous and download the program for trial. Open and review, it has a help file attached which can be opened from within the program or windows. This is a very easy program to get use to and also has the ability to download complete systems from these RRDatabase pages. You'll need to be a donating RR user to use this feature. I think $5.00 US will suffice for this. Click on Home above to do this and find on the left <Donations>under Contact Misc.

The cable you need is RadioShack Cat. # 20-289.

Buckskinner may have me in trouble but the attached zip has a p95 and p96 for the city and county. A quick throw together which should help get you going. The US side doesn't have any trunking in St Clair County but does have several conventionals.

Buckskinner, how ya doing? I saw the kind words in another feed

BTW, will be in your area in Sept. Going to my 50th grad reunion, gonna see how many of the old farts are standing up straight.

Can't get the attachment to go . I will check it out .

P96 is not an 'allowed' file on this board. Append your file with .txt (such as filename.p95.txt) or zip it, as you found out, and it will post. Just make sure when DLing you take off the TXT so it will be recognized by Win96.
