If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey all, Im trying to program a GMRS repeater here in the area into my Baofeng UV-9G. https://mygmrs.com/repeater/715 I plan on getting a better GMRS radio eventually but I wanted to get it working on this radio. I have the CTCSS tones on the transmit and receive set to what is listed on myGMRS and the frequencys are set correctly. I know this because I set my whistler TRX-1 to listen on 462.700 for it and I heard the tail come through the whistler scanner and the baofeng when I transmitted but I only hear the tail. Everytime I key up I don't hear anything come through the scanner when I am announceing my call sign and asking for a radio check but when i let off of the push to talk button it will just give me the tail. I also know noone else can hear me, someone that was on the repeater heard me hitting it but they couldn't hear me. I don't want to keep just pinging the repeater with nothing while I try to fiddle with random settings in hopes that itll make a difference so does anyone have anyideas as to why its doing this?

You need to have some substantial separation between the two to run a test like that. The strong transmitted signal from the Baofeng is overloading the scanners receiver when you transmit.

When you stop transmitting, the scanner can hear again, and is hearing the squelch tail form the repeater.

You need a lot more separation between your Baofeng and the scanner,

As for others hearing your transmission but not hearing your voice:
Make sure you have the Baofeng set to wide band FM. Do not use narrow band FM or your audio will be greatly reduced.
Make sure you are in a location that has a clear shot at the repeater. A low power/inefficient antenna like that may key up the repeater, but your signal is so weak, your voice is not getting through. Get outside, or add an external antenna. Handheld inside the house is probably your issue.
