I need help programming a single conventional frequency (452.975) that is not yet in the RR database into my HP-1 with the extreme feature. Can’t seem to get to the point where I can actually type in the frequency. I’m reading pages 6-10 in the extreme manual but I’m not getting it?? Can I use sentinel to do this?

If you want to scan the conventional channel the only way I know to do this is via Sentinel.
If you use direct freq entry in the extreme you can type it in to hear it but cant scan it.,

Thanks for the response. I’m familiar with the direct entry feature which is how I confirmed this was the frequency I was looking for. I also submitted this frequency for the RR database. I’d still like to know how to program a frequency that I can put into a favorite list and scan if that's possible.

Yes, from the Sentinel top menu.... click "edit", then "edit favorites list".

Name a new favorites list and add your frequency.

Write to the Home Patrol to get it in the scanner.

To do it from the scanner itself.Go into advanced menu and select advanced option menu and select edit favorites list.Select the list you want to edit and then select create new system.Select system type and name it and hit accept and hit OK.Then select edit department and tap create department and name it and hit accept and select edit channel then tap create new channel and name it and hit next and select service type you want it to be.After you select the service type enter the frequency you want to add and hit accept and then set your modulation alert etc and then hit listen and it is now in the fav list you selected. Sorry for the run on sentences I only have my phone available to use until tomorrow.

Assuming you already have a favorite list in your HP-1:

1. Menu
2. Advanced Menu
3. Advanced Option
4. Edit Favorite Lists
5. Select Favorite List
6. Select System
7. Edit Department
8. Select Department
9. Edit Channel
10. Create New Channel (reply to prompts, select service type, accept, etc.).

I know this is not a detailed tutorial but you should be able to figure it out after a few tries. You can also manually create a new favorite list in STEP 5 above and then add systems/departments/channels to it. You can also create a favorite list with the desired frequency by using Sentinel and downloading it into the HP-1.

And for those who say only Sentinel will work, the Extreme upgrade gives, among other things, the ability to program the scanner from the front panel.

Enter the TGID you are trying to program.

If you are trying to program a non-trunked system, you selected the wrong system type.
