I recently bought a scanner PRO95. However, no one at any Radio Shack is able to help me with it. I know how to program one frequency at a time, but don’t know how to setup and monitor the trunked systems. I am only interested in listening to San Diego PD agencies.

Thank you in advance for your help.

You can see the online manual! It tells you in a detailed way how to program various trunked systems. You need Adobe Acrobat Reader though. Go to their home page, hit Product Manuals, and select the radio comms category, and select your PRO-95 from the list. :)

the easiest way is to go to www.starrsoft.com and download WIN95, it is free. While at the site you can read about the serial cable you will need. The cable can be ordered from www.greamerica.com for 14.95, gre is the manufactuer of the Pro95 scannr.

Much easier to do the programing with this software.

Yes that is much easier but he will never learn how to use the radio if he has to rely on software all the time. Also you can get the cable from your local Radio Shack instead of ordering it online.

San Diego and San Diego CO .p95 files

Part of the San Diego system is splintered and much is digital. Some of either file may work ok for you.

There are two YAHOO groups dedicated to the PRO-95

One is specifically about the PRO-95 and it's features and the other is speciffically for the use of sharing .p95 files. You're most likely going to find one there...

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PRO95/ and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/p95/

Also if you need help you might get a better response on the Radio Shack forum on here. If what fmon says is correct then you're probably not going to get to hear much without a PRO-96 or Uniden BCD-396T. I just checked the files section on the yahoo group .p95 and they do have a .p95 for San Diego California. I put a copy of it here but I'd suggest joiining and sharing information. I had to upload it as a .zip file just unzip it and you'll see the .p95 file there.

Using Web Import in Win96 sets the City bank to Normal and the County bank to splinter. All of the digital TG's are in the County system. Thus the San Diego County SmartZone system may be the splinter and partly digital while the City smartnet system may be totally analog and normal.

Edit: The first part about Web Import settings is not correct, it doesn't set the system to splinter.
