To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello friends,

Currently living in Meine and trying to run VHF DMR repeater, Motorola XPR8300.
Can not connect the repeater to Brandmeister because of the radios's old firmware.
CPS is version 16.0
XPR8300 firmware is version R01.06.20

Looking at the Brandmeister web site, they recommend few options of firmware for this repeater, I am adding screenshots.

I tried unsuccessfully to update with the most recent firmware but this is not working. Probably I need to update with firmware close to the repeater's firmware version.
Thank you

So for CPS 16 Build 828 you would be looking for Firmware for the 8300 R02.09.nn

The XPR-8300 eas dropped from Firmware support I believe in 2020 with release 20.20.02.03, (CPS 2.0) required and SUM EID).

Only the 800Mhz version XPR-8380 is supported beyond that, and then only because the all the supply chain issues.

XPR8300 firmware is version R01.06.20 -- in the R01 series, R01.12.17 is the most current and also requires a CPS 16 build. I have never moved any repeater from R01 to R02 firmware, but I guess it could be done. Of course, your experiences may be unique to you.

Thank you.
I really hope to update the firmware and so the amateur community around me to be able to use the DMR option.
The cell phone coverage around me is not so good, so better to have another way of communication right.
Have a nice day and still hope to get help from a guy who has firmware for this old repeater.
I am already working on modifications of repeater's heatsink
