Need help with installing the usb cable

I just recently bought the Pro-106 scanner and the usb cable from radioshack.

The problem I am having is trying to install the usb cable. It says it installed correctly but the software psr500 and win500 doesn't detect the scanner.

I've double check my com ports and such. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Win7 recognizes your USB cable without installing any drivers. Win500 will automatically recognize the connection. Plug into your scanner, and test by downloading what is in the scanner to the program. Make sure that you have the newest version.

Thanks for your help.

I figured it out. Basically I was plugging in the mini plug that came with the usb adaptor into the scanner making the program not detect it.
