Hi,

I was asked to post help in here. I just bought this and as a reporter, I need to hear Police updates here in the Fort Lauderdale area and just cannot figure this thing out. I have never encountered something so difficult to use. I have no idea how to put in the codes to get the police here...even my techie son worked on it and all we got was NHOA....the weather band!

I really need to get this up and running and if someone who is very knowledgable and has these codes can help me, I will pay you via paypal.

No, I've seen the manual and all the Wiki stuff and it's like Chinese to me.

Please let me know if this is something you can do!

I recommend that you purchase the Butel software (ARC 500) http://www.butel.nl/ that will enable you to program your scanner with your PC. Butel software will allow you to import the data directly from the Radio Reference database (this will require you to become a premium member of Radio Reference) and you will need the proper cable to connect the scanner to your PC, this can be found at Radio Shack. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4233363

The database page for Broward County FL can be found here with the trunked radio systems that law enforcement use listed at the bottom.

The Ft. Lauderdale radio system is part of the Broward County trunking system, so forget the idea of 1 frequency. Sure, if you wanted to listen to the Wilton Manors cops talking to each other on their simplex freq, then yes, 1 frequency would be fine. Things have changed since 1991 when 460.050, & 460.100 would be the freq's to listen to. But we are in 2012, & you have to have a scanner that works on rebanded systems to listen to what you want. Your scanner supports rebanding, but might need a firmware upgrade to do so. Some Radio Shack stores have scanner geeks who work there, & if you give them $20, they will set up your scanner for you. You need to find one of these guys.

Hopefully someone in your area will read your post and offer to program your radio for you. As others have posted, it's not a matter of one or two frequencies anymore.
