Gday I have searched the forums for trunkview help and none match my specific question. So here goes.

I have successfully set up trunkview and every thing is working fine scanner leaves control ch and goes to voice ch but i get no voice.
Also I cannot edit my sites databases under the edit function, I have tried 3 other PC's and it is the same is this a simple problem does the software need to be registered?
When I go to edit site database uner options trunkview just beeps as if the option does not exist.

TrunkView V2.21 BCD996XT does not work at all is it supported yet?

I am using a UBCD396T My control Chanel is 165.07500 (VIC SMR) My Base Ch is 165.05000

00:31:44 ******* TrunkView :: MPT1327 Protocol Decoder ------ Saturday 2009-12-26 ********
ID: 5981 | One Tree Hill | Cch Frequency: 165.07500 MHz
*****************************************************************************************
00:32:39 - GTC | Go To Channel - Voice | (041) Org: 6112 Tar: 6305
| Ch: 315 Freq: 168.98750 MHz |
So I am assuming my base is right as someone else worked it out?

Any help would be appreciated as i am new to dynamic scanners i have been setting up TV for some weeks now and am at a loss Cheers From Aus

TrunkView does not require registration.

V2.21 was released long before the XT, so possibly not.

I am using a UBCD396T My control Chanel is 165.07500 (VIC SMR) My Base Ch is 165.05000

00:31:44 ******* TrunkView :: MPT1327 Protocol Decoder ------ Saturday 2009-12-26 ********

| Ch: 315 Freq: 168.98750 MHz |

NEVER assume anything. In your above example, Ch 315 is actually 165.3750 MHz.

The VIC SMR requires a Custom bandplan, with Ch 1 as 162.0625 through to Ch 251 as 165.1875 - then - Ch 301 as 165.2000 through to Ch 364 as 165.9875 MHz.

TrunkView will only allow about 29 Custom channels in a Profile, so what you have to do, is create a Profile in TrunkView - add a few Channels - save the Profile, then exit TrunkView and edit the file, with something like Notepad or Wordpad, to enter the rest of the required Channels.

Thanks comint
I have been using notepad to edit and i think my band plan is set up correctly.
[Custom channels]

001=162.0625
002=162.0750

363=165.9750
364=165.9875

My Base freq is my issue I think from your last post I came up with the following
165.3750-(315*0.0125)= 164.4375 as base feq

When I use 164.4375 as my base freq I get the right voice channel BUT my custom band plan changes and returns me to 164.4625 as base freq. So I'm at a loss my band plan just changes?

If you have to use a Custom Band Plan, then you don't use a Base Frequency. Leave it Blank.

The reason you have to use a Custom Band Plan is because the Channels do not conform to the standard 'Base frequency' format.

Thanks when left blank this is what happens on loading profile says site details of 5981 missing and it creates it own band plan

06:57:50 - GTC | Go To Channel - Voice | (041) Org: 5750 Tar: 6305
| Ch: 315 Freq: 3.93750 MHz |

Don't I need a base freq for it to refer to the band plan
07:02:39 - CLEAR| Call clear-down | Ch: 315 Freq: 165.37500 MHz
| Return to Control Ch: 242 |

Just saved as SMR

The Profile filename has to contain at least part of the Site Name, otherwise TrunkView has no way of finding it.

In the case of 0x5981, it would have to be named at least

One Tree Hill.tvp

One Tree.tvp, or

One.tvp

However, what I would suggest, is that you rename 0x5981 to 'SMR One Tree Hill', and keep the filename of SMR.tvp, for the Profile . This will allow the one Profile to be used for all SMR Sites. The Site Name of every other SMR Site must also have ''SMR ' as the first characters, for this to work.

The Base Frequency field has NO relevance when using Custom Band Plans. With the SMR you would need two Base Frequencies - one for Chs 1 to 251, and one for Chs 301 to 364. Thats why a Custom Band Plan has to be used.

Bingo I put 162.0500 in base freq and it returned to control Chanel on scanner.
It set its self up as ch 00 on the band plan

Thanks for your help comint this forum for new users is much less intimidating when you are feeling your way around

<name>SMR One Tree Hill</name>
<sysid>0x5981</sysid>
<cchfreq>165.07500</cchfreq>

Too bad no one has submitted the correct SysIDs for the SMR Sites on the Radioreference Database, or the Latitude and Longitude (in WGS84 datum) for each Site, then you could end up with a display like this.

That entry should read:-

22913 5981 Bendigo etc.,

TrunkView shouldn't even be looking at the Base Frequency field, when using a Custom Band Plan, but you can try 0.0 MHz or 162.0500 MHz.

Thanks I am not too sure about TV my copy does not allow me to select edit site data bases under the options tab.
You look like you have been busy with Vertel UHF MPT1327 - Site Map
For bendigo what does 22913 stand for

Don't know what would be causing that.

22913 is just the Decimal equivalent of the Hexadecimal 5981.

Might as well. It is really related to an Australian specific problem, namely the Victorian SMR.

Does Ctrl-D work?

Do you have both a sites.xml file, and a sites.xsl file, in the TrunkView folder?
The xsl file is responsible for formatting of the data on the screen.

What operating system are you using?
