I have the 20-047 programming cable with the driver CD. Windows XP,SP3. I followed the instructions on the cd,don't think I installed the drivers correctly. When I check my device manager with the cable plugged in under Ports(COM&LPT)there are only have 2 ports listed.(1)Printer Port(LPT1) (2)USB Serial Port(COM4).

I have read on here not to use the installation cd that came with the cable, read about Don S and how he set it up,but he is using Windows Vista. I have paid for and installed the butel software on my computer but of course I can't do anything without installing the drivers first. On the display of my pro-164 it says CLONE MODE,Press up to send, remove cable to exit....after pressing 1 it says "No Response"..remove cable.

Re: Cable

...after pressing 1 it says "No Response"..remove cable.

I had that happen. I worked around it by downloading the driver from GRE,
omitting punching the 1 button on the Pro 97, instead go up to the Win 97 menu and click on the correct upload or download button and watch the progress bars go
Another thing I had occur was a failure when the port would not work.
I opened the com port page and found the Win XP had bult three com ports so I deleted one then it worked fine..
Sorry if this post is chopped up the page is causing me a few problems.s.

Thanks, just did that. Now try to install the cd again?
Ok,after putting in the cd i get a window that has a few of windows operating systems,I click XP,click 64bit,shows a list starting off
with a CDM release info DOC file, followed by about a dozen files,FTB,FTD,etc....after plugging in the cable in my ubs port,I go to my device
manager and it shows Port COM4..what do I need to do? I am still lost, thanks.

Haha, they should put a disclaimer on the box of scanners saying that trying to program this scanner will lead to hair loss in record time.

Ok,I realize now that the files are not on the cd but on the user guide and driver utility for the cable..I get to that window where all of the files are listed, how do I install them? right click and open with WinZip? when I double click or right clock on any of the dll files I get a notepad window.
