Need Help with WIN95

I need help uploading a WIN95 file to my PRO95.
My computer has 4 USB ports. I'm using the RS programming cable, and a RS Serial to USB cable.

No matter which USB port the cable is in, or which serial port number I pick in WIN95 (I've tried 1-4) it will not upload (or download).
The only exception is one of them will appear to upload (WIN95 shows it's uploading), but the scanner will not go into clone mode.

I have used this setup in the past but can't figure out why it's not working now. When I first tried to upload today, the scanner said "Incorrect Model" on the display.

Please help....If I have to manually put in all those frequencies again....I'm gonna be ticked

What color is the cable?
The black cable DOES NOT WORK with the Pro 95, no matter what
Radio Shack tells you.

You need the White or Cream color cable to use with the Pro 95

my laptop has 4 USB ports also but for some reason I have to use port 9. The best thing to do would start checking with port 5 and go up. Also you might want to check the add time box in the config. for USB.

Confused

When I find a port that "works", WIN 95 will start uploading, and the scanner will go into clone mode. Not long after it starts, the scanner says "Incorrect Model" and the initializes itself......I'm confused

To get the COM number for the cable go to Control Panel and open up the System icon. Then go to the tab Hardware and click on the Device Manager button. You'll then see a window and scroll down until you see Ports(COM & LPT). Open it up by clicking on the '+' and you should see your serial->USB cable there with the COM number. For example on my laptop it comes up as 'Belkin F5U109 Serial Port(COM4)'. If not double click on it to get to the properties window. The COM port should be there.

I'm using XP with a serial to USB adapter also...take the advice from the previous messages...but to add on to that, in the advanced settings for the port settings tab, I had to slow the recieve buffer down from 14 to 8 and the transmit buffer down from 16 to 13. (results may vary)
