Hey everyone, I am in the Waynesville area and have decided to finally make time to get my tech license. In looking for a local club I am having trouble locating one. The closest according to ARRL the closest is in Lebanon but their website no longer loads. Any help in connecting me with someone for a mentor role would be great. Mainly needing to be able to ask questions and help walk through things.

I note that there are 65 ham clubs listed at ARRL, but not being familiar with Missouri, I couldn't begin to know which would be the next closest to Waynesville... :cautious:

Rolla Regional Amateur Radio Society http://www.rrars.org and Southwest Missouri Amateur Radio Club https://smarc.org/
The Rolla club uses the 146.790 repeater that is located next to our Fire dept. repeater west of Dixon by the Conservation Fire tower, they have a nightly net I believe at 8:00 pm though I haven't checked in for a while. They used to do testing on campus at Rolla, but not sure if they have resumed since the start of the Corona. I believe you may be able to test online now also.
Southwest I joined as I am in Springfield a lot for medical visits. They have live casts of their nets and a chat that you can communicate online with members.
When I had my big antenna set up I could hit repeaters all over MO and simplex around 50 miles on 2 meters. My interest is mostly 2 meters operations, kinda coincides with dispatching.
