Recently the police department (Columbus NE) and the Platte County Sheriff's Dept Platte County NE) upgraded to P25 system. The talk group (51000) now picks up the CPD but I cannot hear the Sheriff's Dept. (both depts share). I have the conventional codes selected as well (just in case). Trunking system P25 Auto Nebraska State. i'm still rather new at this but learned enuf from a lot of mistakes. I have a RS Pro 197 (that works quite well). Any constructive assistance appreciated.

RS Pro 197 will not pick up any phase 2 systems. Are you sure you programed your Pro197 the right way to pick up the SO office? what scanner software are you using to program your radio ?

I picked up a nice Uniden BCD996P2 radio and it has been my workhorse here in Maryland. Also you can get a motorola xts5000 and mabe have someone program it who knows how to do it so it will NOT affiliate the the system as you listen to it and or the BCD436 will work also

Have you programmed other sites for Franklin County? As I understand it, the site setup for the area is rather complex. Columbus City will only have Columbus on it, Franklin County will have Franklin County on it, and Columbus MARCS will have all others on it.

MARCS-IP is not a Phase 2 system and therefore this would not apply. A Phase 2 system also does not guarentee that the talkgroup is operating in the TDMA (Phase 2) mode which is where a Phase 1 scanner would stop working.

The OP is in Nebraska, not Ohio. He is referring to Platte County, which is where Columbus, Nebraska is located, not Franklin County in Ohio, the location of Columbus Ohio.

I believe the system the OP is referring to is he Nebraska State Radio System Trunking System, Statewide, Nebraska - Scanner Frequencies, in his state, not MARCS IP, which is in Ohio.

The system in question, the state system for Nebraska, is a P25 Phase I system, not Phase II.

Looking at your statewide system, the only talkgroup ID listed for your county (at least for now) is TGID 51000. You indicate that you are hearing the S.O. on that. While they might also handle dispatching for Columbus, whether full time, or part time, that is not indicated as such in the database. If you can verify that they are sharing dispatch duties, then please submit that to the database so an update can be made.

For your city, Columbus, NE, the database still shows the city PD dispatch on 154.725, as P25 (conventional, not trunked), NAC 290. Have you programmed that, and still not hearing anything on it?

If you can verify that the city has also moved to state system, perhaps they are using a different talkgroup than 51000. You might try adding a wild card to the system, to see if there are additional talkgroups that have not been submitted to update the database.

According to the Radio Reference database, the only talkgroup for Platte Co in the Nebraska Statewide system is 51000 which says sheriff dispatch. Columbus PD is probably still using the 154.725 P25 conventional frequency.

Thxx 4 all replies. CPD is broadcasting on talk group 51000 which is also (allegedly PCSO) but rarely hear any PCSO traffic. I also have Osceola and Humphrey (towers) selected.
