I have a friend in the Centerville / Warner Robins area..... I need to know what is the best scanner to go with to hear all of the local public service for all of the agencies in Houston Co area...... any help would be greatly appreciated......from what I gather, that whole area is trunked with apco25..... not sure, though.....I just need a few suggestions on getting him "on the air" to hear all of the goins on around his neck of the woods...... thanks........

All of the public safety agencies in Houston and Peach counties operate on the HOUSTON/PEACH trunked system. It is a P25 system and the information about it on this website is accurate. To hear it, you will need a digital scanner, like the BC996T or the BC396T. There are also GRE and Radio Shack comparable versions. There are, however, other agencies in the listening area (depending on the height of the antenna) that are conventional and analog trunked. The digital scanners will also scan non-digital transmissions so, bottom-line, you need one of the scanners above.
