I'm interested in Purchasing hey handheld scanner that will work in my area. I live in Brevard Co. Fl. I'M interested and listening to local for her police in EMS. can someone please recommend a good handheld scanner reasonably priced? thank you for all your help.

A quick check of Brevard County shows that Brevard County Public Services Trunking System, is an EDACS trunking system. That means you would need a trunking scanner. There are some good older models,such as BC246T, that would work and the newer BC346XT

There are a couple of digital systems in your area, but I don't think they are worth the extra $250-300 right now based on what you wanted to hear. . However, someone in your area should comment on this.

Palm Bay shows to be the only area that's using any digital on the countywide EDACS system, so I would think you should hear the analog talkgroups just fine, but to be honest, I'm not really familiar with EDACS systems, so hopefully someone else will chime in as well.
