So I just got my new scanner and programmed in my local city's frequencies for their Motorola trunk system. I specified the talk group id's and scanning through the list it keeps getting held up on some frequencies that are not even listed... and they are just a bunch of static.

UPDATE: Possibly was happening because I didn't have the reband plan selected... I will test again in the morning after batteries charge. Joined RR premium then noticed haha... was planning on joining anyway luckily

So it is confirmed that was the issue =)

Instead of starting a new thread maybe someone can answer another question for me... I was searching the cb channels and decided to go out to my car to my cb and test it to see if I could hear myself. When I transmitted nothing came across to the scanner...any ideas?

Are you sure it is actually scanning the cb channels? Seems like mine stayed on one channel and I had to press something to get it to scan ch1-40

Well yeah i had wide open squelch so that it would stay on the channel i was trying to transmit over and when i keyed up on the radio the static on the scanner stopped

It's saturating the detector. If you got some distance between the two the results would likely be much different.

So I feel kind of dumb about this but it turns out it wasn't that they were too close to each other. It was that the replacement cb mic I ordered was a power mic and I forgot the battery =D Thanks
