Im trying to get my first live feed up and going, but there is one problem. When i plug my scanner into the wall i get buzzing feedback from the live feed. When i unplug the power from the wall and use batteries only there is no feedback. I am using a Radio Shack Pro-164 scanner. Is there something else i need to use to keep this from happening?

Ground loops, hum & or other audio noises can be caused by the wall wart power supply or bad cables.
I use a good 12V DC power supply to power my radios.

You can try an audio isolation transformer.

What would be a good power supply to use. Currently I am using Radio Shacks Enercell power supply, its one that has the interchangeable ends.
I think I will run by radio shack and get that isolation transformer to see if that works.

An update. I went to Radio Shack told the guy what i was looking for (that audio isolator) he recommended i got a snap choke core, which is to help prevent EMI and RFI. Of coarse this didn't help a bit. Could it possibly be the radio? Like I said in a previous post it works perfect with the batteries in it.

No, that was not what you were looking for. Radio Shack sucks anymore, and they don't even pretend to know anything about radios. They call themselves "the shack" now...

This is what you need: AUDIO GROUND LOOP ISOLATOR | AllElectronics.com
or you can find that item on RS' website and pay a lot more..

I went to Radio Shack again, this time I took the radio, I also mentioned when I got there that you guys here on the forum recommended the audio ground loop isolator. So we grabbed one off the shelf and tried it. Sure enough that fixed it 100%. Thanks for all the help guys.
