Need some help

I have a Pro96 it's speaker isn't working so I can't hear anything. I have a Pro 95 which is pretty much useless these days and a Pro 97 I use for listening to EMS. I'm looking to upgrade to one radio that will do both London EMS and Fire. Any suggestions?

quick fix maybe

will the radio work if you hook up a pair of computer speakers to it ?
if it does you now have a new base !

Or might be able to transplant speaker from the 95 into the 96...

I think there might be something more wrong with the 96. If the volume does work and that's only once in awhile. The transmissions that come through are garbled. But the weather channel comes in no problem. So I'm not sure what the problem is with it...
