I don't know about the rest of you, but it bugs me when I have a freq. and PL (or DPL) and no name to tag onto it.

I'm going to list the unnamed that I have in my scanner and see if it rings any bells with anyone in the Toronto monitoring area.

154.5700 411 DPL

172.5900 141.3 PL

Once these are confirmed, they can be submitted to the DB. :)

Now I know, I shouldn't ask this question, because I know you'd know better, but did you check the tafl for any sort of references to the frequencies?

I too have a list of stuff like this in my radio too, unfortunately, any references to them usually point to the company that the licensed is issued through, ex. Christie & Walther etc..

Actually I have checked TAFL.

Let's look at one of the freq's. 454.200 (627 DPL) . It's licensed in a 10 km radius from my location to Woodbine Entertainment, UPS at Jane and Steeles, Extended Stay Hotel among others.

What I have been hearing on that tone is "go to bay 10" etc., so I'm thinking UPS, but can't be 100% sure.

The good thing about shift work is that I can take a listen in the morning when the businesses are busy, before I go in on afternoons. :)

The 452.8125 I do remember that I confirmed it to be i believe security at Woodbine Centre.. the 463.9625 346 DPL is for sure coming from Woodbine Race Track as I remember getting it and a bunch of other frequencies also using VI on Close Call.

Most of the freq you have listed are LPU channels. The only way to identify them is to monitor the comms and see if they say anything to identify the user or loaction. If its a mall they might mention a few stores an apt building might mention a unit number. If you have a handhelp scanner even without pl capability you can go to the suspected location and see if you can hear them on their radios at the same time.

Many of these freqs have several dozen listings in TAFL. In the case of "Scanner vs UPS" (lol), I worked there at Jane and Steeles in the early 90s, we did not refer to loading docks as 'bay' just simply as "door 10". My source then, was the Haruteq book which did not show pl/dpl and neither did my only scanner back then, my Pro 46, which I listened to in my car a few minutes before my shift and did hear the two freqs mentioned below. They have way more doors than to be refering to just one door. I have heard the same Bay 10 as you have including bay 4, bay 11 and tunnel and not likely it's UPS, which have door numbers into the 80s. Unless things have significantly changed there, UPS during the day is a ghost town. Late afternoon, early evening all hell breaks loose !

452.5375 - Trailer shunting. Shunt trucks moving trailers in/out of doors. Listen for such lingo as "Jack door xx" or "Jack the primaries", or, "Couple 41 and 42"

454.2000 - The guy who controls the conveyor belts inside the building on which parcels travel throughout the hub. Listen for "iregs" - irregularly shaped items such as 5 shovels taped together, a roll of carpet, tires, paint cans etc, these are things that cannot go onto the conveyor system. You'd be surprised at some of the weird stuff people send to each other !!!

I am not far from UPS and will plug these into my pl/dpl capable radios. Rx from home was scratchy at best (back then) with my discone.

452.3625 - no tone shows up on my 246 or 106 in search mode - sounds like a hotel paging system. I've heard various, quick pages such as 'Towels to 305', 'Ironing board to 712', 'DeHavilland Hall' and 'Could you come to the front desk please...thank you'.

Thanks for checking, actually Haruteq did show tones, just in a cryptic way.
In their listings, they would show the freq. and then a double alpha like these
CTCSS TONES
151.085 XZ (or 67.0)
151.085 ZB (or 97.4)
...etc

Yeah I remember that, they had the PL listings at the back of the book and you had to reference the two letter code to the specific PL tone. Funny to think about the old equipment and references we used to use in the old days :) None of the old scanners had text tags, you had to remember the frequencies or the voices.

411.7375 PL 141.3 has been confirmed as the West Detention Center up on Disco Road
453.7250 186.2 PL has been confirmed as the International Plaza Hotel

I checked my old list and

452.8125 PL 167.9 I have this as the Woodbine Centre but on tone 179.9.. could be a typo in my list though.

I should clarify, they did not show tones for the UPS freqs I mentioned. In reference to your original post, I caught 454.2000/627 talking about Bay 10, in the aisle. Some warehousing/distribution centre ??? Good signal from here, as if it was next door ! I keep a scanner notebook handy, when I see an unknown freq popping up regularly, I jot down what they say.

452.3625/244 - xrays, labour and delivery, emerg, fracture clinic. Sounds like security personnel. TAFL shows St. Michael's, but with lab & del I'm pretty sure we can rule out Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care ! University Health Network ???

This is the best part about scanning, figuring out who's who. But at the same time, it's the worst part, cuz ya can't figure out who's who !!!

Thanks Matt.

Sure enough Woodbine Centre is tone 179.9 as tonight I heard: "Wooddbine Centre Security- please state your emergency"
I think that tone 167.9 may be Cargill Meat plant on Rexdale Blvd.

Umm.. Matt if you're not using that old list....:p

Reading the posts about putting unconfirmed data into the WIKI got me thinking that we should compare notes and share data here on the forum.
I'm not sure people are comfortable using the WIKI.
I figure if we collaborate here, we can get the list figured out.

I am close to Toronto West Dentention Centre and I assumed that that was what I was listening to. Now I'm not so sure.
At my buddy's place in Milton the same freq. and tone comes up.
I would think that there would be different tone assignments for different locations

Hey Mike, no a problem.. if you want a copy of my old list just drop me a PM with an email address and I can email you over.. it's in Microslop Excel 2003 format. Now just to let you know too that I haven't lived up there in Ontario in over 3 years so some of the frequencies probably could be very well outdated.

454.2000/627 - 6:30am - lady calling out to Wayne, asking him to bring the fuel drums by Bay 8. When he replied, I could hear (what sounded like) him driving a battery powered forklift. This freq has a good chance at getting solved because you hear specific info, not idle chit chat. Possible suspect could be :

454.2000 459.2000 DOWNSVIEW, ONT. 123 GARRATT BLVD BOMBARDIER AEROSPACE, BOMBARDIER INC.

A couple of the other freqs you posted are also listed under Bombardier. This plant is next door to where Sunrise Propane is/was/blew up. Maybe they keep enough fuel (in drums) to get the plane in the air for a couple of test flights. I have seen planes land, take off and touch and go at Downsview airport.

Hi,
I live close <5Km. to the Don Jail and the signal is strong.
Also I have heard the Toronto FIRE dept. dispatched to this jail,
and also heard the sirens on 411.7375/141.3 as they arrive.
Also listen to 462.2375/516 Downsview airport. Lots of ground and emerg. talk.
Let me know if you hear from your location?

mciupa,

How ya making out with that list ? Further to 454.2000/627, heard reference to a rudder and gantry earlier today. 451.7875 and 453.7250 I get what 'sounds like' a control channel, but not continuous. Is it one of those MotoTurbo, something unscannable ??? And 452.3625/244 more hospital talk, i.e. cardiology. I live between two hospitals, but that freq doesn't show up on for either of them. Hope this helps...

Wish it was going quicker. It's kinda like watching grass grow

I'm sure you have nailed this one as Bombardier Aerospace. Do you want to submit that to the database or should I ? :D
I have heard references to wings as well. Keep 130.075 handy with this one as I believe Bombardier test the planes on that freq.

The first one is Humber College security, they went TRBO a couple of years ago. Not sure about .725

Probably one of the downtown ones on Hospital row. TGH has a busy cardio division.

One that I'm wondering about is 452.8125 PL 97.4 I'm thinking ManuLife at Bay and Bloor.

You can submit 454.2000/627 as Bombardier Aerospace since you included it in your original post. I actually had it in my radio but didn't really pay attention to it until now.
