I have no Idea how to program a trunked system into my scanner. All I get are these complicated instructions, does anybody have some easy to understand directions? Oh, and without software.
"Crazy" you spend good money and give up so fast. You have bought a great scanner but if the system that you want to receive is APCO-25 then you have bought the wrong scanner.redferrariowner said:Oh, ok, I guess Ill never understand this.
It's too bad its just a usename!
That should work fine. It's a good one to start with, based on the info shown in the DB.redferrariowner said:How about this http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=3723 Can I use this?

To download that, do you need high speed? I only have dial up, so would it take as long to download as it would to program by hand? (There aren't a lot of frequencies in the system Im looking at, does that matter?)tatertot1 said:Just curious why you are anti-software. Win97 from www.starrsoft.com is free for 30 days so you can try it out. It is a VERY simple program to use and I highly recomend it for the 97. It makes programming much much much easier, not to mention cutting down the programming time from about 5 hours, to about 3o mins. The only thing you'll have to purchase right away is the cable from Radio Shack.
Just something to consider.

It takes time, patients, lots of reading, and very often assistance from experienced people (which you already found the right place for).
Stick with it, its a great hobby and you'll love it once you get the hang of it.

If there are only a few frequencies that interest you, then you dont really need the software. But as you progress in this hobby, you'll probably have your scanner loaded to the gills with freq's like most of us.
