Hi, I'm a DXer from Barrington IL and when I phase null CHHA at night I can hear a variety of TIS on 1610 am.

One of them has Iowa mentions and a 515 area code. I can't quite copy the first digit so the number sd/lk 515-?77-2452. The only TIS on 1610 listed at FCC's site in an area with a 515 number (they don't have all the TIS) is in Ames.

Hopefully this TIS rings a bell for someone here in IA and you can tell me which one this is?

Thx .. KAZ

Hopefully a couple of you good people in Iowa can take a listen to 1610 am during their travels and commutes and hopefully someone can tell me where this TIS is located.

Thx .. KAZ

Travelers Information Station. They can be found at not only 1610 kHz, but at 1710 kHz, and 530 kHz. They can be located at airports, telling travelers what airline flies out of what terminal, road closures on the airport, etc.

They can also be found at National Park, et al, entrances giving park info, sometimes at highway construction projects that are planned to last an extended period of time to give drivers detour info, etc.

I found my station driving thru Central Iowa last Sunday on I-35 and it is located at Saylorville Lake and calls itself the Voice of Saylorville Lake. I don't think this is located right on I-35 since it never came very well anywhere along I-35 and contrary to what the FCC says, there was no station at that rest area as I stopped there.

Thx .. KAZ
