I just picked up one of these SDRs to play around with during my retirement. Quick questions, do I need to use the ZADIG driver that is mentioned and what SDR controlling software is suggested for a Windows 11 laptop.

Thanks

Steve

Yes, here is a guide to follow

Currently sdr++ is the most user friendly
Get the nightly build

It you want to dive in to a more elaborate software sdr console

Site with loads of info, identifying signals, software to decode, ect

Yes, you need to use zadig to install the driver, it's a one an done, after you install the driver, you won't need to do it again if you add more rtl-sdr's

Need the latest Visual C++ runtime redistributable from Microsoft for that.

Just scroll down a little bit and get and install the vc_redist.x64.exe file under the Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022 header. May need the x86 exe as well (or for other software), just depends on specific application.
