Network connection causing SDS200 to go deaf.

Hi to the group!
I'm happy to have found this on the forum. I too am experiencing the same exact problem.
My SDS200 was purchased Jan/2022.
Firmware Version
Main: Version 1.21.00
Sub : Version 1.02.01
SN: 38426018002072-OFA
ProScan Version: 20.4
It is only recently (within the last month) that I have the problem with audio loss, both locally at the scanner and at ProScan.
Yesterday, when it happened, I keyed up on my GMRS handheld (scanner was receiving GMRS/FRS frequencies) and got no response at the scanner. Scanner was scanning but not responding. Normal scanner operation returns always when I toggle the scanner power.
I'd be happy to work with ProScan and/or whomever to further troubleshoot.
Since I've just seen this thread on RR, I haven't tried running the scanner continuously without the Ethernet connection to ProScan yet to see if that eliminates the stopping of audio. That's an unacceptable fix for me.

Did you see my post regarding trying a new SD card to see if that cures the problem? That is probably the easiest test that could be done. I don't think there's any type of test that can be done in ProScan other than setting the audio input device option to any setting other than URL.

Since the problem just started within the last month then it could be the SD card.

{edit} Another test you or anyone can do is use VLC to connect to the scanner audio.

OK, more data.
12/16/2022
11:30 am - New SD Card
Monitored audio locally and via ProScan
Audio OK 12/16, 12/17, 12/18
12/19/2022
6:30 am - No audio locally or via ProScan. Recordings were logged on ProScan but no audio after approx 2am 12/19. Audio is heard on the files and then stops with quiet (no audio) existing for the rest of the file. I've kept the files.
Keyed up GMRS on transceiver. Scanner stopped scanning and landed on channel but no audio. Nothing recorded.
Restarted scanner and audio returned both locally and on ProScan.
I've closed ProScan and left the Ethernet connected to the scanner.
Will continue to monitor. If audio stops again, I will disconnect Ethernet from scanner and test again.
You mentioned trying to connect to the scanner via VNC. I'm not sure how that's done. I tried connecting via Winamp by using the scanner's URL (IP address). Winamp>File, Play URL, IP address of scanner. Winamp doesn't connect and states "HTTP Version not supported".

I don't think WinAmp support rtsp connections.
In VLC
1. Go to the Media menu then Open Network Stream
2. Enter the URL like this except use scanner IP. Notice the colon in au:scanner.au
rtsp://192.168.0.100/au:scanner.au
3. Click the Play button.

If it doesn't work then it could be because more then 1 app is trying to use the RTSP at the same time so exit ProScan to make sure just VLC is using it. If it still doesn't work then power cycle the scanner.

Thanks. I will try that.
Where can I get a copy of version ProScan 17.6?
reedcom was able to keep the audio running without problems with that version.
Doesn't it make sense to try that version? That would confirm that there is not an issue with SDS hardware and firmware.

Here is ver 17.6.3
It's not a setup file so do this
1. Download
2. Extract and copy the files over the originals. Stop ProScan first.

Thanks but I don't see any files attached.
Do you need my email sent to support@proscan.org?
Sorry about that

LAN (Ethernet).
Thanks. That cancels the theory I had with the problem caused by the serial port.

{edit} If it happens gain, can you enter VOL in the Protocol Command box (located in the Test & Extra tab then click the Send button then see what the response is.

All is good so far. Took 3 days for audio loss on ver 20.4.
Ver 17.6.3 looks good after 24 hrs.

Thanks for the update. Keep it with that version 17.6.3. In a week, I can send you a test file if the scanner audio is still good with ver. 17.6.3

Will do. I'll keep you updated.
If the scanner goes deaf again, the very first thing I would do is enter in VOL,5 (or any number 4 to 29 but use a lower number so not to blast) in the Protocol Command box then check the Scanner Response box shows VOL,OK then check if audio is present at the scanner speaker.

I been looking over this and don't see anything in the code other then the Comm. Serial Port was changed from the native API method (in 17.8) to the .NET Framework IO.Ports.SerialPort method but you're using the scanner LAN for serial port comms so that doesn't come into play.
