I just bought a 396XT. By default it has the Michigan digital system programmed to it. But in this system there are 40+ sites. Each site has several frequencies. If I look at the database, these are not limited to control channels. I was going to try and match the sites in the radio to the ones in the DB, but the radio doesen't match.

I deleted the sites, then added just 2 for the towers near me. And I used just the control channels. The radio seems to work better. Any idea what the default sites are or why they are what they are for this Uniden scanner?

At the time the radio was introduced, the frequencies came from the Radioreference current data, but I'm sure it rapidly getting old for may tower sites. That's the problem with a static frequency set in a radio memory. At least the user can download the latest frequency data using programs such as FreeSCAN or ARCXT.
