The University of Chicago was recently granted a new license for 3 800MHz frequencies, to be used by their PD. 854.8625, 855.8125, and 858.8375 are FB2's (possibly for a trunked system?). Showing P25 Phase I & II.

"THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO IS A PRIVATE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION. THE RADIOS WILL BE USED BY THE CAMPUS POLICE."

I saw that a couple of weeks ago. Assuming they went with P25 so they'll be able to have access to the City's P25 system and vice versa. Now the big question...E or not to E?

I've had it programmed looking for the first sign of a control channel...nothing yet.

Not hearing or seeing anything from the Midway Airport area.
Heard this from the Streeterville neighborhood this weekend. Didn't detect any activity on the other 800 MHz freqs that are covered by this callsign, and the University of Chicago PD UHF repeater appeared to be active.

I am still seeing this as well from the Streeterville neighborhood. My SDS100 shows System 140, which is the system number for STARCOM21. The Radio Reference database shows that Site 504 on SC21 is the Cook County Sheriff IntelliRepeater site in Northbrook. Problem is that Cook County isn't licensed for 854.8625. Could this be an image? Is there anyone in the Northbrook area who could give a listen to 854.8625 to see if they're hearing a control channel on that frequency? If nothing is heard there, maybe give 851.225 and 852.1875 a try to see if that site uses NAC 144?

Correction to my post above. The control channel on 854.8625 is showing up as Site 5-024, not 5-004. There is no Site 5-024 shown in the Radio Reference database for STARCOM21. FWIW, Sites 5-020 through 5-023 are shown as MUSCOM in Muscatine County, Iowa.

The mystery continues....
