New AA Talkgroups?

While watching TRUNKER closely yesterday with "affiliations" turned
on, I noticed the FD testing a number of radios. Some of those
radios came up on what appeared to be possible "new" talkgroups:

9616
9680

I've put 9616, 9648 (a guess) and 9680 into my regular talkgroup
banks to see if anything shows up...

Anyone got any info?

I haven't noticed them Troy but I'll be watching the Activity ID function more closely now. What time of day was this?

It is interesting that while watching the affiliations come and
go on TRUNKER, many unknown radio IDs pop-up with an
affiliation on one of the FD talkgroups. I assume they are
just setting up and programming new radios (I've heard
the current FD portable radios are "loaners" and will be
replaced at some point).

Anyway - I have most of the FD radios ID'd so these are pretty
obvious and it isn't really a suprise when they come up.

What I didn't expect to see was these couple of new talkgroups. I
thought they were maybe just "false hits" but they came up
several times.... no verbal - just a radio affiliated/on the group.

My first guess would be possible programming/prep for the new
digital talkgroups... but that's probably not it...

It was the middle of the day on Thursday... one of the communications
guys from Fire Alarm would occasionally do a "test one - two - three" on
one of of the normal channels (1-M sticks ni my mind)... it went on
for a few hours....

Hmm, interesting....I heard a call go out over the Annapolis ops tg that officers were to report to the break room to have their radios reprogrammed; I assumed at the time it was for some sort of special ops that were going last night, but perhaps not?

I'm glad I just reloaded the AA county database in Radio Manager; I can let that catalog the unknowns.....73s Mike

I just thought it might not be coincidence that there are 5 new medics: 1, 3, 12, 17, & 18 AND they're testing new radios.
I've been watching the radio IDs of these units and haven't seen any change yet.. I have also tagged a lot of the radio ids by just listening and marrying them up.
I expect these new units will be like the new engines and not fall within the IDs originally allocated to these stations, but rather towards the end of the FD numbers.

I'm sure some could be testing of the new units... the newer
radio IDs are in the 227xx area but we can't rule out reuse of
some older radios ... in fact, some of the "odd" IDs I'm seeing
are in the old/original 21xxx range.

Either way - I'm still wondering what those 96xx talkgroups
are.... they are my main interest...

Good timing - PM-1 was running Reserve PM-1 which died
on them. They had to take over A-29 today and run it as
PM-2 because the county was out of reserve units (at least
earlier in the day).

Funny...that's the same talkgroup they used just before this set of new frequencies became operational.
