I have not been able to decode AIS transmissions with the DJ-X100T with firmware version 4.00-003. I have done significant troubleshooting with Alinco support with no success. I have tried this using 2 brand new radios at locations in 3 different states. I entered the AIS frequencies and mode using the Quick Key 5, memory channels, and manual entry in VFO mode. I have used both the radio GPS position and a manually entered FIX. Neither the radio position display nor the Alinco provided Position Viewer software display any AIS positions despite more than 100 hits on other AIS receivers. ALINCO Japan has yet to admit there is a problem despite my findings and information from my dealer that others have reported this issue.
For me, AIS works very well with the original antenna.

At least one poster here stated his does work with AIS. The ACARS works fine on my 100T. But no luck on getting the position screen display showing any locations. Maybe the E version works and the T doesn’t.

Only once has my E version radio shown a ship on the screen and I have never been able to replicate it since.

Same here, I've never gotten ACARS POS data to show on the map and I have the T model too

After many hours of testing with no success and having tried everything Alinco suggested, they stopped replying to my emails. I will never buy another Alinco product. They will not even admit there is an issue.

The X100T certainly should receive and decode ACARS messages, provided it is correctly tuned, SNR is sufficient and a compliant ACARS signal is being received.

I would like to get a X100 on my bench so I can check out the performance of a real unit...I'm quite keen to move on my R30 to get one.

It might be worth using the BlackCat ACARS decoder and feeding it with audio from the receiver to be sure it's a good ACARS signal you are receiving and this might allow you to pin it down to the decoder in the X100.

Mine receives and decodes the data just fine, it won’t show the position on the display.

ACARS doesn't contain GPS info (typically), so its not going to show up on the display. The manual says that if the receiving signal contains GPS information it will display it. I can decode ACARS without any issue here(both J and E versions). I have no way to test AIS in Colorado :ROFLMAO:

I read that but still scan all the ACARS frequencies in range, just in case…

Hi all, newbie here! Been here a while but never really posted, I mostly just use for research but I need to be active. So I'll start with this - recently got a X100e and was wondering if anyone misses any channels when scanning? I'm connected to a Diamond X-50 roof mounted which is pretty strong, so I need 20ATT to reduce any overload. But I do find I miss TX on some weaker channels due to this. Any suggestions please?

I imagine a wideband handheld like the X100E or T wouldn’t have the filters or selectivity of a base rig and would easily overload the front end. I never use a base type antenna, but do use a 5/8 wave Smiley antenna for rail on occasion. Maybe someone could suggest a band pass filter if a commercial or weather station is causing the overload.

To be honest it looks like a good fit for amateur radio in that it covers the main DV modes and covers 2/70, plus a bit so it will probably sell reasonably if it's not too expensive.

It turns out it is really quite expensive!

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to enter the key (if known) for dPMR mode on an Alinco DJ-X100E? Thanks.
