Hi All:

I have a Bearcat XT245 (?) programmable handheld scanner and am desirous of putting in the local police/fire and other departments in my area - Garland, TX - Dallas Metroplex - but ...

I am totally confused by the trunking system ...

If anyone could give me some suggestions, I'd certainly appreciate it ...

I need to know How to do it - what frequencies to use - and then some ...

I do have the local aircraft and railroad frequencies in place, but of course, they're not trunked ...

Its not that hard to show you how to program your radio, however since there are a ton radios out there .. we really need to know *exactly* what radio you have.

what frequencies to use - and then some ...

Actually we have a pretty extensive 245 Wiki page built for what I'm pretty sure she's describing is a BC245XLT. Just click on the link, and you'll be taken to it.

Pepper, not only do we have a Texas forum, there's a Dallas Fort Worth Yahoo group where you can pick up LOTS of local help. Between the 2, you should have no trouble. We also have a trunking Wiki , and I would encourage you to click on the link and read it. The Garland system looks to be quite simple, and should pose no real problems in getting it set up in the 245. 73s Mike
