New Athens County Fire Channel Plan (effective May 2017)

Countywide Simulcast Repeater System for Dispatch --

Athens City Fire uses MARCS exclusively with VHF analog alerts on 154.2650 MHz PL 151.4 hZ
Athens County EMS uses MARCS exclusively with VHF analog alerts on 159.0750 MHz PL 141.3 hZ

Athens City, Nelsonville, Ohio University and Hocking College PD as well as the Athens County Sheriff's Office operate exclusively on MARCS. Most of the village marshals are switching over soon. Athens County maintains an analog law enforcement repeater on 151.19 MHz (input 155.52 MHz, PL 162.2 hZ) for those agencies and for backup to the MARCS system.

Forgot to mention ... the VHF repeaters at Albany, Amesville, Coolville, Glouster, Nelsonville, Stewart and Shade will be permanently removed once the simulcast system on 156.2325 MHz goes on the air. All towers will transmit at once and all towers will receive 159.315 MHz, with that audio fed to a voter that will select the most intelligible signal and feed it into the system to be rebroadcast.

The frequencies for the "local" repeaters in use now will be re-purposed for fireground channels under the new system. At this time, there are no plans to move any of the fire departments (except Athens City FD, who is already there) to the MARCS system.
